Zoomers. that aside I also really don't like the soundfont for these games. Some of the remixes were straight up downgrades compared to the originals like the Pokémon Mansion.

I think the originals are better when it comes to the simpler compositions like city themes and battles, but more complicated stuff like the R/B/Y Champion sounds way better in FR/LG to me. The initial "oh crap, shit's gotten real" rush of music is much smoother in the remake.
Even if I think the originals are better, though, I still like FR/LG's music. I'm a sucker for GBA era chiptune in general.

IMO it's ok to shit on them, since Gen 3 was when Pokemon Inc. and Jewtendo first decided to do a dexcut in order to goad fans into buying more games.

The oldest zoomers were born in 1997, so it's not out of the realm of possibility than lots of them started with Gen 3.

For me? I realized that LGPE are the better games because they're more fun. FRLG drags itself down with the forced addition of the sevii islands which until I learned you could skip them after the 7th badge were the part of the game I loathed the most.

Gen3 has most of the worst music in the franchise thanks to GF having no idea how to compose for the GBA's terrible sound situation. But FRLG is especially heinous for how it butchered the classic RBY soundtrack. It's amazing how good ORAS's most is considering the trash it had to work with.

Having recently replayed both FR/LG, I actually found that I really didn't like them all anymore. The soundfont and bland colors makes the games feel really empty and lifeless. Especially compared to the Hoenn games.
