It's not like Hollywood where there are open references to sex or onscreen makeout sessions in mainstream films. It's a cultural thing. Case in point, there was only one onscreen kissu in a Godzilla movie (longest running Japanese film franchise) up until 2018 when they had more explicit material in an anime movie.
