Probably the best thing to enjoy a good Gameboy game with. I hope they make one for the DS/3DS at some point.

To GBA sure not GB/C; you'd have to use homebrew on a GameCube to do something similar and it's kind of a pain in the dick to get GB players that work these days

a 2ds or 3ds. hacking is piss easy, they can this as well, emulate like 5 other platforms and obviously play the originals

the point of these is to bridge the gap of legality, and additionally backup your saves.
additionally, you can buy blank cartridges and write to them with pirated roms to play on original hardware. Which is pointless except for rare use cases or if well you already have it.

There's a shitty one by datel that works for $20 which is cheaper than any 3DS right now. Also it isn't just a way to transfer saves, it plays carts, and it's also nice for a collector's purpose in that it can identify counterfeits and reflashed carts. Something pretty much every pirate doesn't care for anyway but if you want to pretend a useful feature isn't useful go off.
Also just because you can emulate on a 3DS doesn't mean it's good or even remotely comfortable but I don't really care when I already have a homebrewed 3DS. I can rip games but it's obnoxious if I want to transfer saves to unscrew the back of my N3DSXL to get the SD card out and back in.
It's also nice to have a cart flasher in the event a bit might get flipped as a cart ages, something homebrew doesn't do, but again that's a collector thing she I don't really see too many people caring for. But that's what the point of cart flashers, to do things that pretty much no one else would do for really niche purposes.

Never really had great experiences with their products and their SNES slot scratched my friend's cartridges
You probably don't have a problem but I'm concerned about their quality control

To add to your point, some physical 3DS carts are starting to fail. Pokemon XY ORAS and some other couple outright stopped working. Some GB games too, and have been successfully revived with a reflash. Cartridge preservation is a genuine concern moving forward for anyone that keeps physicals.
