Would a new Pokemon Stadium be a good idea?

I've been playing the N64 Stadium games recently and they're pretty fun.

Considering Game Freak is not including ranked battles in BDSP or Legends Arceus, as well as the fact that SwSh don't support the complete NatDex, I was thinking maybe a new Pokemon Stadium game could be a could compromise.

Add in Pokemon Home support for the complete NatDex, difficult battles like the OG games, online support and minigames, plus have it made by Bamco like New Snap and Pokken for decent looking graphics.

What do you guys think?

You're asking for too much. If they did it, they wouldn't give us 1/10th of what you said.

But yes, I would enjoy that. I'd be fine with the dex cut if we could use the entire national dex in a stadium game.

I think the appeal of the original Stadium was mostly carried by the convenience of battling without a link cable and the glamour of seeing pokemon battling in 3D. I don't know that the market of people looking for ranked battle is going to be big enough to justify a game on its own. Maybe if it had a focus on really making the battles look cool and cinematic, but that would require a large budget for it to be the selling point.

What I would like to see is for them to lean more into the minigames and make a Pokemon version of Mario Party.

The entire novelty of the Stadium games was playing with your Pokemon in 3D on your TV. There's no point to making a new Stadium game now.

Yeah I guess that's true. There's still a lot of neat things in Stadium, like the quality animation and the announcer voice. Pokemon Showdown is really popular so a battle only Pokemon game could do well I think.

They should just make ranked/VGC its own game separate from the mainline series with full team customization like you can do in Showdown. Add actual animations and an announcer, and it would be kino.

That's basically what I want honestly with National Dex and Home support. Mini games would be nice too but they'd probably rather make Pokemon Party or some shit on their own.

The only way that I could see them doing something like this would be if it was a subscription based online service. And honestly, I think that it has a decent chance of happening like that. It would be a big draw for those who want to use all of the pokemon and would also be relatively inexpensive to produce as they'd only need to update the game with new pokemon and stages to meet the bare minimum

The models are fine, it's the animation that's the problem. Also the original Stadium wasn't by Game Freak and neither would this.

For me, Stadium and Stadium 2 was all about the very intense battles against the AI you could have. Animations were fine (although I wished I could turn them off at points especially in the Gym Leader Castles) and the minigames were okay too, but I don't think there's a large number of people that care for intense single player battles anymore, especially since everything is accessible and online is a good substitute. If they were to make a new Stadium game, it would have to be more like Stadium 1 where you could only bring Pokemon of certain levels into battles. Next to no one has battles around levels that are not either 100 or 50 and additionally a lot of what you can get now at a lower level has changed (most fully evolved Pokemon are accessible at level 15 at least, some like Azumarill, Muk, Salamence, etc can be below level 10 and the two I listed at the start of the list can be level 5).

A visually stunning fully battle game where the entire key focus has been on crafting the most pleasing battle experience to look at. With tons of unique animations and beautiful stadiums. Couple it with a solid character creator, mini games and other content. A half-story mode maybe. It'll be sellable alongside the main series.

But still, we really should just have better animations in the core games as standard

They should just integrate competitive into Home.
>You're already paying more money for it than Bank
>Any Pokémon could be used
>You still need the games to catch/raise/breed
>Better cheat filtering
>Gives the App some new use rather than being a glorified PC box
>Strategies always changing with each release

The only real problem is that they'd need to have item storage in Home.

If its the best way to play current 3D Pokemon battles (sped up battles, better move & Pokemon animations, nicer graphics overall) then maybe

We don't need a new Stadium. the reason Stadiums existed was because the market shifted to 3D graphics for consoles and 2D was considered low-tech in comparison.

But i do believe if we were to have one, it'd be a separate digital release akin to Home. It'll borrow data from the main games, but it'd also run on a server so they can make constant changes

There's no longer a purpose for a Stadium Game in modern Pokemon.

>Stadium's expected to have all the Pokemon at the time of release- because there's now dexcuts, this means Stadium is even less likely to get a new game because you're basically paying for the exact same experience as the Core Games Online but you get a Teambuilder, and if they did put in the effort, they would be required to put in that effort for future core titles going forward because there's then literally zero excuse when the models and animations have all been successfully updated for Stadium

In an ideal world, HOME would be that Pokemon Stadium, with better graphics and constant updates to keep up with the generational changes, on top of little dressup and contest minigames for any Pokemon you have that you don't really use to battle.

The only thing that Stadium still has over what came after are the giant (like really big) buffet of hand-picked single player battles and mini-games, which are missed indeed but could not justify a new retail product. Their value has been picked apart between the banks, game freak games going 3d and improving their interfaces, and the number of Pokemon and moves in tandem with better hardware making a good looking Pokemon untenable for what Ninty would want to spend. Would still be nice to see.

IIRC Kaizo only has one Mewtwo outside of the actual "Mewtwo" battles and that's Giovanni R2, not Prime Cup
I think all the R2 Prime Cup finals have a Mew but it's not that big a deal
