Other reasons is rowlet is just better for some people so they go the chad route and only keep it as the orb whole game or box it with the rest the starters that gen.

When I first saw the leaks I thought Decidueye had to be fake because it was way too cool to be real. Thankfully it was real, and honestly Gen 7 as a whole gave us a ton of my favorite designs.

Alternatively, these are cartoon monsters, sometimes they take liberties with a design like with Noctowl, sometimes they embrace elements of real-world basis, like Decidueye..

It is the best gen 5 starter and i like him a lot more than his pre-evos. The only problem with it is the boring pure water typing.

Not a high bar. People who don't like Gen 5 cite starters (and most of the dex in general apart from some standouts) as one of their main problems with the Unova games. Pokes either stand out from that gen or are forgettable as fuck, and that's one of the forgettable ones along with the other starters that don't really have anything going for them apart from contrary Serperior. Even then its a coin toss if people even like the snek.

Tbh part of the problem is that it’s Gen 5 sprite didn’t show it using is swords at all. While I can understand some of the complaints (doesn’t look like Dewott, quadruped swordman) those seem more like a matter of taste than objective flaws.I never had much of an issue with samurott. An Otter becoming a Sea lions isn’t that big a stretch considering this is the same franchise where a fish becomes an octopus. And it makes sense that a water type would evolve a body that lets it swim better.

Samurott is my favorite gen 5 starter, glad it didn't go the gesbiga route because then it'd be even more of a jobmon than it already is. It's in that sweetspot riggt now, animalistic with just a hint of a human based concept.
