How on earth does "minimal grinding mode" translate to blocking your path with a trainer that has pure power fake out medicham and a team made out of four Pokemon that all have multiple TMs on them at the very start of Viridian Forest?

There's no TMs up to this point, there's no held items, no ways to get berries, no ways to get money to buy anything, no way to breed, there is genuinely no way to get stronger or alter your strategy this early in the game besides grinding exp. For some fucking reason the pure power medicham has Rock Tomb so if you want to counter him with a bug or flying type he will one shot. He also has an adaptability corphish with Aqua Jet and Aerial Ace on it so if you try to counter that with a grass type, he will one shot it. Seriously my dudes are still using tackle and tail whip and shit like that. This is the entrance to Viridian Forest it's literally the first fucking trainer you fight in the game besides your rival. The game hasnt given you the resources yet to even alter your pokemon in any way. The only fucking thing available is grinding on level 2-6 wilds.
