i have 500+ battles on helioptile and yamask and probably 2 to 3k encounters now

Lunala (dunno if it's locked or not, but i'm not going to attempt farming a pokemon without enhanced odds)

No, GSC had a unique shiny mechanic allowing "shiny IVs" to be inherited.
Do you know about shiny hunting in Emerald? It isn't ideal due to an error with the games RNG.

Trying to get a shiny in Dynamax Adventure. I don't even care which one it is at this point. I have to have done at least more than 40 at this point and I haven't even gotten a bystander shiny. Am I just extremely unlucky?

The only gens I'm left to get shinies in are 2 and 3. Debating if I should double corruption for hunting Lugia and Ho-Oh in emerald, would be hunting it in emulator and flashing the save back to my cart though. Don't want any stupid things happening with doing double corruption in my real cart

Assuming you caught everything and didn't fail, and have the shiny charm, your chances should be 1-(99/100)^400, or 98% chance of encountering a shiny. I'm sorry for your loss.

Komala for the shiny log meme.

Also pic-related was my 4th (and successful) attempt at a shiny Tyrunt (in Ultra Moon) with its hidden ability (Sturdy), which was on this day one year ago (September 24th, 2020). Still surprised that the encounter date for transferred Pokémon is preserved for each and every one.

I have been really lucky in Black 2. Found a shiny Mienfoo(route 14 dark grass, 30% chance) after huting for only like 5 hours. Also, got 3 other shinies by pure luck, lost one of them though(the pic Litwick)

Lucky anon, I’m about 60k into hunting for it atm

I’ve failed shinies before, and missed out on uncatchables but I’ve never deliberately avoided catching one. You should just leave Haxorus where it is if you’re not going to catch.

I did that hunt with a mate earlier this year when we were going into lockdown. I explained how it worked to him and his response was "I like those odds".
I got mine at 8500, he gave up at roughly 25,000. Always go in expecting the worst, if you get it under odds it's a pleasant surprise and if you suffer well you knew it was coming.

This will be my second recent attempt since the previous one failed due to my old 3DS's battery problems (it shut down while in sleep mode).

I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
The way I hunted shiny Kanto birds in RBY was just calculating the correct stat spreads and having a lead Pokémon with 1 speed lower than the target speed the bird would need to have a potential shiny spread. If it outsped me I'd catch it, check the stats and reset if it failed.
Still took me a good few months, though.

There's a counter app I find is a lot more convenient than the outdated Poketch one. It's a generic counting app so you just label your counter and set your increment and it's good to go. The UI is very clean and I'm enjoying it a lot.

As far as I know cute charm only affects odds when it’s active, not sure why you’d want to meme your weight in shinies and then properly soft reset however.

Thanks anon. Yeah, I'm hoping not to be one of those people with 4 or 5 phases, but considering the best tree in Azalea feels like it's around 30-40% Heracross it's very possible.

I went through 15 non-HA pancham/pangoro (fuck knows how many calls, was only tracking till max stats available each time, was a fair few restarts in the middle of it) before finally breeding one, then deciding I wasn't going to SOS hunt a HA phantump (due to the arse of getting HA pancham) and just bred for it instead. Ended up getting it within 330 eggs and even got a non-HA shiny first to pad out the living 'Dex.
