First time I ever used the Gothita line was in a ROM hack that made it Psychic/Dark. I was pretty disappointed when I found out that was just a change the hack made.

Gothicism as a whole is literally based on Dark, brooding aesthetics. Both dark and ghost fit the theme better than psychic, tho I'll admit psychic isn't a HUGE stretch

Most people that are not stupid agree that the Dark type works on Luxray. If you can't see that, I can't help you nor do I want to.

Sounds Dark to me.

But Dark is just a mess of a type that seems to be based more around how humans perceive the Pokemon than the Pokemon's actual behavior (see Absol)

Psychic is an edgier type. Or at least it used to be when it was first introduced. Hypno's theme is mind control, Alakazam's theme is being impossibly intelligent (and intelligence has a frightening aspect to it). Slowbro was also about mind control.

didn't remember the mega ngl. tyranitar doesn't seem that angry but idk. i mean i wouldn't say he's happy or whatever but just stoic. the wall thing might help you murder someone but it's not gonna help in a pokemon battle though. and frankly the only sneaky cat i know are hyenas, but i'm not an african so can't really say much about lynxes.
