>>48298791If you want a serious answer, the GBA screen, while having more colors than the GBC had access to, had a few issues in that the saturations weren't particularly strong (max saturations were just a bit further than what the GBC was capable of) and temperature balance was cold. This issue would apply to the GBA, SP, DS fat and Lite, and DSi's, all of them.
Screen colors weren't updated until the 3DS era where a much higher dynamic range was possible with the new screens.
This is why on emulators, some GBA games and certainly the DS games had some seriously imbalanced saturations and even color choices that were different from the official art like in
>>48299072When it came to the 3D era, rather than updating the promotional art assets, TPC opted instead to update the in-game models to match the official art. This in turn left a ton of mons with washed out color palettes. This wouldn't be as egregious in Kalos as a number of mons there were designed with muted color schemes and only bits of stronger saturation, but it stood out during Alola's era as Pokemon's design team started reintroducing higher saturations to designs, like Alolan Sandslash, Turtonator and Minior. Galar pushed this further with designs like Falinks, the fossils, and Toxtricity
Interestingly, designs like Mega Sceptile use higher saturations than their old counterparts.
