The anime has no significant bearing on what the games do or vice versa, they're separate entities ever since Journeys started.
They brought back Z-Moves prior, now they're doing Megas, and then they're going to bring in G-Max Gengar.
They're just cycling through the Nuke Gimmicks to promote merch of them and the Pokemon using them.

XY didn't continue to be the VGC game after ORAS came out.
It's not unreasonable GF will give it another pokemon patch, with or without megas.

1. Megas wouldve been shown by now
2. BDSP is a "faithful remake" aka nothing different from the original
3. Jouneys isnt following the games at all, Megas appearing is just because the series is now showing off all the regions and gimmicks they have, we have dynamaxing and zmoves so megas are obviously going to appear in the anime especially since Korrina is in this series.

They don't want to bring Charizard back until Ash beats or loses to Leon.
They've ALWAYS been anal about letting two characters share a Pokemon without one having a distinct visual difference other than size, because they don't want the kiddies to get confused with one they should be rooting for.

It's the fucking anime, dude. It's its own facet of the fucking franchise, chill. Hell the current anime isn't even tied to the current games, Ash and Goh go to whatever region they want/are requested to go to and Goh has several Dexited Pokemon
