One of the main differences is that shogi consists of 8 different kinds of pieces and chess only 6 kinds.
They are based on a fuhyō (foot soldier) and a kinshō (Gold general) or a kakugyō (angler mover) as well as bandits wearing stolen samurai armors, very common during sengoku.
So being strict we don't have chess-based Pokemon, they are just localized names.
