What do you think morale is like at Game Freak? Even if SwSh sold well, do you think all the dexcels got to them? The positive reception of Legends so far is probably a nice feeling for them after SwSh.

Please commit not-alive. If anything killed Game Freak's moral, it's being overworked due to having to pump out yearly releases while being understaffed. Both problems would have been solved by slowing the release schedule and hiring more people, things that "Dexcels" have been telling Game Freak. Meanwhile all (you've) done is dance of the grace of the cut pokemon, deflect ans scapegoat better games whenever anyone points out SwSh's glaring flaws, backtrack and move goalposts, and twist the narrative to make true-fans look like the bad guys.

Masuda's near his retirement so I doubt he gives a shit.
Sugimori just wants to waifufag over Peach, so I bet he's content.

As for the drones, probably low considering Town flopped massively so that means they're stuck working on Pokemon forever as all non-Pokemon games sell worse than modern American comics.

Going by this want ad, they're offering one of the best worker packages in the Japanese gaming industry. Add to that their company policy of allowing staff use up to 20% of their work week (studio mandated work permitting) to work on Gear Project-like games, which are just a method to encourage employees to constantly improve their game making skills. And even though he's likely the most visible, Masuda's not the only one sloping off home at 5 in the evening, even though some only started. Their 24-hour flexi-time's another callback to making Gen I in a rented apartment - Masuda and another progarmmer would work nights, blasting techno while they were the only two about.
I doubt anyone at Game Freak care about only having to work 40 hours, no staying late if the boss does, no working weekends or public holidays, like their peers in other studios and I guarantee you none of them care they're making game after game, when they see kids everywhere and all over the world enthralled by what they made and the fat performance bonus they get for hitting sales targets.

It only ever was a way to let someone experience making a game, without shitting on the Pokémon name by letting a noob take the director's chair anon. That Game Freak also chose to self-publish it and ended up doing so, shows they as a studio thought it a success regardless. They wanted to see if they could, to expand their studio nous, it didn't matter what way it sold, that's the perks of having "what are you still doing here worm?" money - they can fund vanity projects and spend the money on getting them to market themselves and they're STILL going to have their bread-and-butter out the door to cover any losses the vanity project makes, while they grow as a studio. Watch them publish ILCA's first full game, if they don't buy them out and use them as a remake studio.

Game Freak couyld buy and sell chicago anon. It doesn't matter how big they are, they've done nothing in 30 years, compared to the creators of the highest grossing franchise on the planet. If Game Freak want to buy them, you can guarantee the founders will sell. I don't see GF cannibalising them however, I think they'd turn them into a sibling studio and have them continue to work on shit like remakes and Home (maybe adding mingames finally)
