If I’m trying to use Galarian Weezing, for example, because it’s a new mon, I don’t want to be saddled with a normal Koffing for until it evolves. Galarian Koffing, Alolan Cubone, etc. would allow you to use old mons but with a different thematic for the entirety of the game, not just after it evolves.
Plus, the whole point of regional forms is to revitalize interest in old mons, and the way it is now those prevos are getting left out. I don’t give a shit about normal Rattata, but really like Alolan Rattata, and if they skipped the prevo and made normal Rattata evolve into Alolan Raticate I’d just continue not giving a shit about Rattata. Giving the entire line a regional form revitalizes the entire line, not just one particular mon in it.
