I joined a max raid that had an obviously fake shiny metagross. Will I get any sort of ban after catching it?

It's most likely not fake. They just used the seed to determine when the shiny would appear and skip the days to get that seed.

It's legit but Shiny Metagross is one of those devalued shinies because of how they gave shiny Beldum to every early adopter of OrAs.

What would happen if I ran into something like mythical or shiny legendary on a max raid or random trade? Is even having one grounds for a ban? I recently lost my old data with lots of the events from last year and I want to get them back somehow

The Raid itself is fine the worst that could but wont happen is the switch or emulator/bot is running gets banned.
Injected raids raids can be found here if you want them.
discord/sha has 2, Metagross/Lycanroc
thtable.com fairly new hosting GMAXs/misc
airwick for unlimited Eevees (could be legit)
any Chinese with 2 & B in its title & no lock
Or any with the Square Shiny outside of boosted events even with injecting seeds Squares sometimes don't even roll in 100.000 viewable.
t.shiny raid host but don't inject them use the old fashion way
