>>48333978Yeah, that's basically their biggest issue from a gameplay standpoint. Unfortunately I don't even think they encourage you to use different mons, most people tend to use the Johto starter, Hariyama, Ampharos/Quagsire, a legendary dog, maybe some late gamers like Flygon that we've all used 100 times before. There's not much of a point in trying to purify that Shadow Sneasel or Aipom or Tropius. XD like you said is a bit more varied but not terribly so.
Maybe the fix would be something like adding difficulty modes that changed the caliber of Shadow mons depending on which mode you pick and don't give you strong mons you'll naturally gravitate towards (maybe in addition to editing enemy teams). They wouldn't be perfect, but they'd be a lot better.
