It's not that they ignore it, it's that the difficulty comes from predicting what other players are going to do. If you're just running smogon sets against a computer you're fighting tedium.

>try going to an official competition
>have to wade through an ocean of fat, hair and sweat that uses its tentacles to grope children's asses and its many mouths to try and flirt with the one or two multicolor hair dykes that showed up
>just be a fan of the franchise in general
>have to put up with the fact that old online metas are dead, SwSh is extremely flawed and uninteresting thanks to legendspam that the dexcut was supposed to fix, and there's no future in BDSP/Legends Arceus

>play a romhack or a challenge run of the base game
>have a fun singleplayer experience and enjoy life as a stable, healthy human being

If you care about the single player RPG, you don't care about it being brutally difficult to the point you have to use the same strats you'd use on Showdown just to finish the game anyway.
