Using IRL logic weakening a highly sentient wild animal enough to capture it and train it to engage in combat on a regular basis sounds difficult and propabably takes more than the 2-10 minutes you spend in battle

Mons that are already trained and know these people are not their friend and in fact took them away from their friend. Trained ones are just as dangerous as wild, they just choose to obey their trainers and play nice instead of wrecking shit. Same thing happens with traded pokemon, they may not actively hate their new trainer but their respect and obedience still has to be earned.
