Not really sure if it counts as random but I always breed mons I want to use in the Battle Tower despite genning for online
Anyway I was breeding Jangmo-o for Shield trying to get a good one, using some Japanese ditto I got from surprise trade, and ended up pulling a shiny before I even finished the IV cleanup.
Been a permanent part of my team since.
