Why does the fairy type exist to balance out the dragon type when dragon should just be weak to steal instead of making this type

the problem with dragon wasn't its lack of weaknesses it was the fact that only one fucking type in the game resisted it and it could easily be covered by slapping on Earthquake and/or Fire Blast on top of whatever dragon STAB you're spamming.

Steel doesn't counter Dragon because nearly every fucking Dragon type can learn a Fire attack or Earthquake.
