>Hiun Ice CreamI don't remember anyone ever saying it was the first ice cream or even that it was the first ice cream cone. Also, they have ice cream in the Sun and Moon anime that doesn't look like a Castelia Cone.
>>48369420It's dumb to apply that to all generation designs though, because we know Pokemon designs aren't all unoriginal; they've become more and more mundane over time, but even still, there are some good ones as late as Gen 8.
>>48369416The idea that Pokemon represent archtypal images that are inherited by humanity and applied by human science doesn't mesh well with me for some reason. It comes off as needlessly convoluted, and without even factoring in my opinion on the matter, it is inherently dishonest. Franchises like Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and Shin Megami Tensei can get away with whimsical designs like that because their monsters are derived from a fantasy kitchen sink directly tied to humanity's collective concious, or unconcious.
Or in simpler terms, monsters in those franchises are a biproduct of humanity.
While this may be the case with Pokemon as well, it has never been explicitly confirmed or even remotely implied as far as I can recall. In fact, Pokemon are often portrayed as naturalistic elements of their world comparable to most fauna in ours. They used to at least be somewhat cryptid like, but now they are very mundane.
