Pokémon has always been quantity over quality
They could do really cool things with the regionals like you pic and crossbreeding. Pokémon should also have more gender and size differences.

I hope Legends becomes a subseries so they can improve and implement in these ideas. Legends seems much more focused on environmental world building.
