>>48370716Didn't give a fuck when they first came out but my sister got 2 for christmas and I watched her play a bit, we were both pretty confused without the context pf the first game but I thought Organization XIII was interesting so I picked up the original and re:Chain of Memories, got hooked. Story is nonsense that went from a kid trying to find his friends and getting wrapped up in saving all the worlds from the darkness in order to do so, to having his memory fucked with to create clones of him in various heart-lacking and/or non-existant digital states and dealing with Xehanort's multi-generational plans while also fighting off the normal villains who may or may not have gotten recruited into or otherwise caught up in those plans. Gameplay is fun if you like action rpgs but everything besides jumping and running is done through menus in real time so it takes some practice and you're gonna have a rough start if you come back after not playing for a while. Some of the endgame and optional bosses are stupid hard but not impossible, there's plenty of mini-games and some worlds have unique play styles like kh2's Atlantica essentially being a rhythm game, some of the side games change up the combat system to be part card game, companions are actually useful if you set them up right instead of just letting them run whatever default behavior they're assigned, and there's usually a good amount of collectables/secrets to hunt for like the 101 dalmatians in the first game. Personally the most annoying thing is they keep re-releasing the games with new content, like it'll come out in Japan but then the Western release will have an extra boss or two so they'll re-release that version in Japan but to make up for making them wait they'll get an extra story bit that actually explains something so then that needs to be brought to the rest of the world, ect. And on top of that the big collections tend to include the cutscenes of the side games but not the actual game parts.
