I'm already the friendly rival to my other Pokemon friend IRL and make cookies and snacks for us so I'd probably be a Hau-kinda rival.
Minior would change colors to match the starter that I got. Samurott's the starter placeholder since he's my favorite.

I convince my rival that the main bad guy is correct by joining them part way through. it becomes the first game with two endings, because in one of them, although I lose the battle, I am successful in my endeavor to sway the player to destruction.

from now on pokemon games will follow one of the two routes upon release, which is what they decide to do with their paired versions. one game is a sequel to the good end, the other, the alternate ending. this will continue for years.
