Charizard and Greninja actually have the design chops to justify their shilling. Charizard might not be the apex of creativity, but it's a simple and well executed design that has become iconic for obvious reasons. Yeah, yeah, everyone likes dragons, but not all Dragons become iconic. Charizard is one of the few that can live up to that title. Greninja is one of those tackier Nu-gen mons, but it's a better, more creatively executed NuPokemon. It's introduces more complex elements to the design that make it more memorable, but they all make sense to its concept and animal inspiration, and they don't feel as tacked on as they do in Lucario. The Donut shoulderpads, random spikes, awkward pseudo-muzzle with a more human-like mouth beneath it, the unnatural and plastic-looking shorts alongside many other clashing details make it an eyesore compared even to future imitators like Zoroark and Zeraora. Lucario is one of the few shillmons that is actually pretty much shit instead of just overrated
