The biggest issue is easily the lack of characterization, it's cool and all to have this Elite Four who's part of the villainous team but they don't put in the legwork to incorporate her character into the plot beyond the few broadcasts. Siebold, Drasna and Wikstrom are all worse off than Malva which is really disappointing as Siebold would've made a ton of sense to see around the various cafes and restaurants through Kalos as a means of honing his culinary skills. Wikstrom's knightly appearance and Drasna's sage-like appearance would have made them pretty good fits for exposition regarding Kalos' history, maybe Wikstrom is more on the man-made side of history while Drasna is on the more naturalistic side of history.
Their teams of four also bring them down a bit as well as the weird choices for XY's Dex, like I can't really see Malva using a Torkoal or some of Wikstrom's team, also it being four instead of five.
Overall though they do feel like the most grandiose of the Elite Four in the series, a lot of the others it usually felt like there was at least one character who came off more like they needed a guy to fulfil that type whereas the Kalos Elite Four come off like they're some of the highest in their respective fields.
