The whole point of Sprout Tower being optional was to play into the mindset of rewarding players for taking the time to explore and passively punishing those who rush through the game. In this case, the reward for completing sprout tower was the tm for flash which will help in places like dark cave, MT. mortar and MT. silver, and some extra EXP which will help with Falkner and train any newly caught Pokémon up to a decent level without having to grind in the wild. Players who skipped it would be punished by being deterred from exploring dark cave and Mt. mortar and thus missing out on some extra encounters/items like marrill, wobbuffet and Blackglasses, and when they reach Mt. silver, they will have to do the walk of shame all the way back to violet city just to get the tm, and will miss out on much needed EXP for the gym. Why do the remakes babify this by making this streamlined?? I thought you guys liked exploration, yet older games do this much better!
