>>48420148I think the more likely reason is that Ghost like dragon (until gen 3 and 4 in dragons case) had extremely limited options in the early days (gen 3 added more ghosts but half of them were pure ghosts, gen 4 and 5 is where I’d argue that the options really widened).
Granted from gen 4 onwards (and in morty’s case he had no excuse not running misdrivous us at least), there is no excuse for the ghastly line to be in every ghost type trainers team less so as an ace (looking at you Allister, your just running gengar for the sole reason of kanto pandering and gmax shilling and even then the gmax is a shitty knock off of its mega in every way) which is nice that Acerola and doesn’t run gengar at all (I would give honourable mention to Shantel as most of her team except her challenge mode rematch team doesn’t run gengar but she loses points for having gengar in that team).
