>>48421839This, if they really wanted every game to feel special the way to do it would be to refine and evolve the core mechanics, branch out into other plot structures than the same "new trainer gets a mon and a dex then takes on the league challenge while collecting more mons and stopping an evil team on the side" we've had in every single mainline game, and make every region unique through things like environments (less climate clusterfucks more focus on biomes that fit together and architecture that reflects that instead of generic urban cities that could be anywhere) and culture(variations in how people and pokemon bond - are they primarily pets, work partners of equal value, livestock, nature spirits/deities that deserve the utmost respect/worship, ect. as well as different activities like minigames or more types of competitions to raise pokemon for, different default battle styles than singles, what values are promoted, and more unique soundtracks focusing on certain styles/instruments.) Not removing general stuff like day/night, weather, seasons, feeding/petting/playing games with your pokemon, character customization, and decorating your room/base - there's plenty of props/decorations throughout the world already they don't necessarily have to make items specifically for the player, it'd be more stuff to collect, and adding a decoration shop to each town means one less empty building just there to fill space/one more building to make small towns less likely to be literally 3 buildings.
