I have said for years that nothing after GSC really needs to be remade. Pokemon as a game simply has not changed enough to warrant it. The classic games were so dated that going back to Kanto/Johto in Gen 4 actually meant something. Between the GBC and the DS, we got the Physical/Special split, Natures, passive Abilities, the 2v2 Battle System, completely overhauled Berry mechanics, enhanced infrastructure for multiplayer/online, touch screen UI, and so on. But many of the changes made to Pokemon since Gen 4 then have come and gone as one-off gimmicks, as opposed lasting changes to the series as a whole. The 3v3 system is gone, and was barely utilized in the Gen 5 games anyway. PSS was replaced with the Plaza, which was replaced with the Y-Comm, and now we're going back to the bloody Union Rooms. They also seem reluctant to remake these regions from the ground up, so we're going back to the same, blocky geometry as before. ORAS, Let's Go and BDSP all reuse the same maps, with only ORAS getting somewhat ambitious in places like Mauville City. It's all so samey.
