>>48430050That's because you're still wearing nostalgia goggles man. I took them off and realized gen 1 is an unfinished dumpster fire of a game a long time ago, I've tried three times to Play red via emulation but its issues compound so quickly I find myself saying "Man I wish I was playing Firered right now". Conversely I think gen 7 aside the more recent games have been on an upswing. EXP Share's change means grinding forever to beat one tough fight is a thing of the past and gives me incentive to swap my team around as the game goes on because Now I can quickly level up pokemon without swap-training, and infinite TMS means I can experiment with movesets more. The thing in ORAS that lets you chain pokemon to get specific ones or find certain ones on the map was amazing, and from my time playing Radical REd I think I'd enjoy the Dynamax Dens or whatever in SwSH - haven't had the chance to play them yet though.
I just feel like every gen was at least a slight step forward over the last, with new improvements, better graphics, and new mechanics enhancing the experience - I just fucking wish they'd stick to a gimmick. I liked mega evolution, can't speak for z-moves, and dynamax is just.. Your pokemon gets bigger and loses its moves for special max moves? They need to pick a gimmick and stick to it rather than throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.
