Does Lyra and Kris exist in the same universe/timeline? What's the lore behind it?

The remakes aren’t canon. Kris also isn’t canon. Ethan is the canon protagonist.

Lyra is a local neighbor who became a Pokemon battling expert, Kris became a Pokemon professor. They both started their journey when they were ten. Lots of kids do, apparently.

Kris encountered Celebi in the Ilex Forest in Crystal, and was subsequently sent to the past alongside Celebi and her entire team, where they jump from era to era saving people and Pokemon from disasters. Unfortunately all the messing with the past caused herself to accidentally disappear from her original timeline. She still technically exists in the multiverse either way.

They're the same character in their respective games and had Lyra not been visually distinct we would not have given it a second thought. They do not need to correlate any more than we need a reason for why Leafy Green leg warmer gal was not in RGBY.
