Pokemon evolution isn't the same as Darwinian evolution. Pokemon evolution is more like rapid metamorphosis. Why and how would the living relative evolve from the extinct ancestor?

Really? I mean I don't hate it, but it's kind of boring. I like the direction but ultimately I think Omastar has more going for it. Needs to retain the mouth and/or to do more with the shell.
