I never really understood the BW hate.
At the time, BW was the first region to be "far away" from the first 4 gens, so it made sense to me to make it a region with only new pokemon, which felt refreshing after DP where half of the barely 100 dex were babies/post-game evos of older mons. Yeah some of their designs were...less than palatable, but that's more subjective. I think a lot of johto mons looks like shit but I don't consider that a con for Gen 2, because that's just my opinion. A more objective con for gen 2 would be its wonky level curve where my team isn't even at lvl 40 and somehow I am already in the E4.
Going with OP's image which is entirely just criticism of Gen 5 designs, again it's jsut subjective. Yeah Emboar being fire/fighting is retarded but the rest of those are purely opinions
>druddigon looks like a 5 year old's failed attempt at arts and crafts
what weight is this statement supposed to even carry? Criticize BW1's straight line of progression or say the dungeons are too easy to get lost in. If you base a gen being good or bad solely on its designs, somethin that can't be quantified, then it's really nothing other than (you)r opinion
During gen 5, i never even really heard much hate for BW from actual pokemon fans (I guess /tr/ or whatever was around 2010-2013 and trading forums). I only really saw it on facebook where normies from my school/town whose only exposure to pokemon was the ashinime comparing charizard to garchomp and posting memes suggesting every BW design was a vanilluxe or garbodor when theres stuff like haxorus and hydreigon that you can selectively choose not to show. I honestly think this acted as the catalyst for the path pokemon took following 2010. It starte with BW2 submitting and including oldmons and then progressed as gens went to where we are now where gen 8's champion's ace is a charizard for some reason.
