The accessibility of Z-Moves for Pokemon as well as the general concept of super moves (albeit not in the way that Z-Moves executes them) would be some elements I'd like to see incorporated into a rework of Mega Evolutions but on their own Z-Moves are pretty shit although I dunno if I'd say they're as bad as Dynamax.

Was the basis for Z-Moves that they originate from the Tapus or from Ultra Space, cause if the latter they could fairly reasonably return. Dynamaxing meanwhile is specific to the presence of Eternatus which I don't see likely returning in any future games.

Don't like them. Got really stale getting 100-0'd by literally anything. Only part of Z-Moves that was arguably based were the status moves like Z-Conversion and Z-Splash.

You can say this about any item in the game dumbass. A Salamence with a fuckton of move options going to benefit more from a Life Orb than a Luvdisc with barely any moves.

I preferred Megas as something that could be used to directly buff a specific Pokemon who might be struggling (at least according to Game Freak), but I respected Z-moves in the sense of it being a mechanic everything could utilize, although that got a bit ruined by adding 20 completely signature Z-crystals anyways which I felt kind of defeated the point of a universal tool. Both are still leagues better than Dynamax.

Werent most of those useless? I just temember Snorlax' signature move, but you had to have giga impact. Like, just use normalium Z and ditch the shitty move.
Primarina is another prime example.

They generally weren't as good as a generic but I still felt it missed the point of a universal tool a bit by adding variations that only specific Pokemon could use. Basically my complaint, even if I consider it somewhat minor, is more on the design aspect than the actual balance.

My main concern with them was really like the lack of animation, like the Toucannon flying z move one is infamous, but stuff like Breakneck Blitz is really distracting too.
I'm pretty fine with them gameplay wise, just wish more of them looked better

That's the main issue with megas, it wasn't needed for the pokemon that actually needed them and now they are gone so they are forever fucked.

It's the best battle gimmick, imo. Shit like Z Status moves were amazing and helped add a new dimension to even shitty useless status moves, and I loved the animations and shit, especially for the Pokémon specific z moves. Overall it's certainly a flawed but a fun mechanic

Evos wouldn't work for 3 stage Pokemon, and stat fixes where you just rearrange the BST a bit don't do as much as type and ability changes and an outright BST boost. A ton of Pokemon that got Megas legitimately were not good, even if they overtuned some, and some of their Abilities couldn't have been justified with the base form. While I agree they could have tried a bit with the single-stagers who ended up with Megas to do an actual evolution, 3 stage shitters definitely needed them.
