I disliked them at first, but now I like Samurott's design (I think the 3D model attacking with a sword helps that the design makes sense). Dragonite is not bad, but... Dragonair deserves a better evolution. But it is better than, say, Goodra.

While my favorite games are sprite based Samurott does benefit more in 3D than 2D
A few Gen 5 mons also have quirks that aren’t present in their sprites(Excadrill’s drill animation, Genesect’s flying animation, Golurk’s cannon animation etc)

For all the shit that Gen 5 gets for its animated sprites, you'd think that Samurott's not snowing off its gimmick would come up.

Dragonite is one of many inferior final stages in gen 1 but Samurott is okay. At the very least Dragonite isn't as bad as Gengar.
