That's because they claim to battle Red at Lv. 45 rather than in the mid/early 50s. Battling him 30 levels under-leveled would be quite hard without spamming full-restores.

Old zoomers are the ones who played these games as kids. So youre probably either an old zoomer or one of the last millenials. Either way dont try to group gen 3 with the first 2 gens.

colloseum was babby's first pokemon console story game, long before SwSh. The only reason you play it today is because you get free legendaries like the Beasts and a free Ho-oh at the end of the survival longplay mode through Mt. Battle, after which you can transfer and clone them all into Emerald. They didn't expect people to play it a long time neither, that's why the playtime counter maxes at 99:99.

XD is where they polish it: Characters are less lifeless, runtime is a little faster, more music and monsters, and Shadow purifying is easier

It really isn't, there's two 'hard' fights in the entire game, Dakim and Evice
Dakim can catch you off guard because of the Entei and the fact he uses genuine strategy, but without the surprise factor/knowledge you can just catch Entei later this makes him a joke
Evice also is only hard because he has 6 actually decent mons, you've already used the master ball on metagross, and because the game has an ass level curve he's 10 levels higher than you. Again, without the surprise and with grinding he becomes substantially easier

im just browsing this thread with no stake but this is literally every fight in every pokemon game.

so people judge how easy a game is by the additional tools they give you. (xp share, mega lucario, extra mega starter, box legendary before the last gyms). the reason people say colosseum and xd are harder than average is because theyre double battles, which are harder than singles, and iirc theyre set mode only so the original easy mode option is turned off. they say colosseum is harder in particular because the pool of pokemon to choose from is really small and full of trash jhoto mons.
