>>48465539For a first attempt, it’s ok. The routes are clearly hallways to funnel players from area to area and force them to battle, making balancing far easier, and overall they’re pretty boring when looked at individually because of it. The Dungeons are excellent tho, punctuated by long strings of battles that actually test your endurance and resource management. I’ve literally wiped out in dark cave so many times cause I forget to not use up the PP of all my best moves, outside of gen 1 running out of PP is fucking impossible, so it’s easy to forget. Overall dungeons are great, some of the best in the series if you don’t care about them being visually interesting. In regards to cities, they’re ok. I wish there more than 2 types of building tho, shit gets stale very fast, I’m tired of looking at those iconic cube blocks that the residents of kanto all seem to love living in.
C+ Could be better, could be worse, good enough for it’s time.
>>48465544What can I say? They’re iconic, and excellent. The fact that gamefreak was yet to start designing them as replacements for animals is a strength, Pokemon can just be RPG monsters that way. Favorites include Lickitung, Tangela, nidoking, tentacruel and kadabra.
A+ nailed it.
>>48465549Gen 1 and 2 are the only gens to get trainer sprites right. Look how fucking unique they are here, how much personality they all have. The art style that was so unique back then, It just works.
A+ this is how you do it.
