I would always just pick up Toxic in the fiery path and teach it to my strongest pokemon, or someone resistant or immune to normal type attacks, like a Mawile or Sableye, then put him up against that fucking Slaking. Badly poison the motherfucker and then go on the defensive. In RSE the gym leaders would use potions instead of full restores so I just had to hold out until all his hp got sapped.
