Crystal Dust isn't done yet but it is still better than Liquid Crystal, LC is a mess and it have too much OC content like a self insert rival.
Imo the best Johto remake is Golden Sun (only in japanese but it is exactly the same texts as the original gold on gb), they revamped the original gen 2 sprites so it has more soul.

Yes, and Crystal Advance is a more faithful remake. Liquid Crystal has a bit better tile and map designs but it's also plagued with weird OC stuff and kinda weird spritework and battle sets. Crystal Advance is all the fat trimmed off.

Liquid Crystal was good for being the first of it's kind, and has been outdone since it's release.

Advance version is fine, definitely has that nostalgia factor going for it if you don't mind Gen2 hacks.

GS Chronicles would be my current recommendation, but there are a few GSC-based hacks out there I haven't played yet.

It's fucking dogshit. There's one point where after facing your rival in Azalea (which is already a tough enough fight) it forces one of the OC rivals on you IMMEDIATELY after the fight. Pissed me off so bad I just shut the game off.

Crystal Dust has ceased development sadly. The older version is still finished (Johto at least) but the new version is only a three badge demo. Really sucks shit because it had massive potential, i mean it's super well made.
