Why does swagger confuse and boost your attack? What's the logic to "swaggering"?

I read it as making the opponent angry; they want to strike back (thus physical attack boost), but they're seeing red thus confusion.

The better question would be to ask why Swagger is a Normal-type move and not a Dark-type move.

Being given the Confusion status after getting a +2 to Attack is pretty deceptive IMO. If Flatter's the same thing but with Special Attack and is a Dark-type move, then Swagger should be a Dark-type move as well.
