>>48477931Hate the most: Gen 8
Good
Trainer animations have a lot of personality: my favorite is Raihan taking a selfie
QOL of life for optimizing your team is amazing, My favorite is mints, especially since the Pokemon keeps its "true" nature flavor-wise
DLC is better than third versions (and Calyrex's
backstory is interesting)
Fav Gen: Gen 2
Critiques
Going to Kanto is overrated, it was a cool feature but if you started with Gen 1 there's nothing new aside from some Gen 2 Pokemon, and if you started with Gen 2 you wouldn't get the significance other than it being the place the SS Aqua takes you. It's a barren boss rush that only serves as a warm up for Red. The extra space would have been better spent expanding Mt Silver, the Alph Ruins, and other Johto areas, or even have the SS Aqua take you to the Orange Islands instead.
The phone can only hold 10 numbers (1 is your mom who you can't remove, so really only 9). You need to have as many phone numbers as possible in order to take full advantage of the swarms, and rematches (two of the major features of GSC)
Its obvious that they either didn't care about Gen 2-mons or just saw them as an extension of Gen 1 mons. Some examples
>The distribution of Gen2 mons makes sense to encourage exploration, the problem is that they're far to weak to justify their rarity >Would it really hurt to add at least 1 more Gen 2 Pokemon to the Leader's teams >Held items were introduced in this gen, but the only Pokemon with signature items are from Gen 1>Snorlax being the best pokmeon in the game and Sudowoodo being a joke >Gen 1 starters having unique menu sprites when the Gen 2 starters don'tIt's a genuine problem because it ruins the perception of new Pokémon and by extension the games. If Game Freak doesn't care about the new Pokémon why should the player? Say what you want about Unova, no would call that place "West Kanto" because Game Freak actually respected Gen 5 Pokemon.
