Nu-pokemon includes BW right? It came out in the 2010s like every single other nu-pokemon game and shows the starting signs of problems that would later plauge the series so I don't know why we would make that an exception. How did the problems start with Gen 3 or 4? Did you forget that it's because of how autists found Sinnoh hard and challenging, they made Univa casualized and kiddiefied? With a linear region, where all the gym leaders have only 3 pokemon and E4 only 4 Pokémon etc. It was undoubtedly the start of the downfall

it was never good though. at least relative to other jrpgs. gen 5 and to a lesser extent 4 are solid because they try to be one story wise and the sidegames are decent but the basic structure of pokemon is just strange
