>>48483499I think it's most likely that they'll do a third version remake that will have two Pokemon mascots similar to LGPE, but without the Let's Go Catching mechanics. It's likely that Entei and Raikou would be the mascots simply because Suicune was the mascot of Crystal, the original third version. It would be more or less the same as HGSS, but in 3D and even more faithful to Crystal.
That said, I'd prefer a Legends variant based primarily in Johto since I'm sick of Kanto and would prefer if rather than going east from New Bark Town to Kanto you go West from Cianwood to a region based on Shikoku (a Chugoku-based region would likely be too large to make into a secondary region). We could finally get a baby Pokemon that evolves into Tauros and Miltank and it could have a mixture of Gen II and Gen III Pokemon since real-world Shikoku lies between Kansai and Kyushu. Moreover, "Cianwood City is the only city in the entire Pokémon franchise that takes place on land modeled after Shikoku" and they already tried expanding it a bit in HGSS by adding Cliff's Edge Gate, Route 47, 48, and the Safari Zone.
