I always despised how doofy Moltres looked compared to the other two birds and the new color scheme and beak/wing shape make it look tons better than the ol' rubber chicken.
Runegrigus, Cursola, and Marowak are really good too.

Its an obvious excuse for them to recycle designs while making less and less new ones but everyone eats it up anyway. Same as mega evolutions. And both rob normal shitmons from potentially getting evolutions

I really like them, my only issues is that they're used to reduce the actual new mon count and I think its retarded that they're blocked from making cross-gen evos because of eviolite autism(I mean, I don't think there should be a "Hoennian Obstagoon" like some people say, but eviolite shouldn't stop them from making a proper Linoone evo should they ever feel like it).

The Gallarian Birds are fantastic, all three of them, and I'd argue Zapdos is an objective improvement.

Regionals in general are pretty cool and I hope they stick around for the coming future, they've taken some of my least-favorite pokemon and made them cool.

They already are making regular Stantler evolve. I hate regionals but also cross-gen evolutions as well. I just want new legit pokemon. Cross gens aren't that original either, and sometimes permanently ruin old pokemon (subjective I know).

If GameFreak wants old pokemon to shine, just create a unique ability and retool their stats and moves. That's it, it's not rocket science.

The more new Mons they make the more likely that older/unpopular Mons get overshadowed for ever. Just look at MH. Gigginox and Hypnotrese never appeared in a mainline game from their debut.
Also
How is new mon like Glacier and Spectier any different from Rapdash or Mudsdale.
How is ledian different to Orbeetle.
Most of the new Mons they make are literally a subspecies of another pokemon anys.

They're milking it by now. Galar's were already worse than Alola's and also robbed us of traditional cross-gen evos. Now they are debuting new ones in a mid gen spin-off game and so far they all suck. But at least the game does give us true evolutions back.

I am very happy with it. Zorua and Zoroark look amazing and all new Pokémon revealed so far look awesome. I feel like Legends is going to be what we have been waiting for. My favorite right now is Scyther’s new evolution.

Kind of helps I like Digimon too and prefer some of the recolors to the originals. But yeah I've always liked regional variants... with some exceptions. Alolan Diglett and dugtrio are basically the "Okay that exists I guess" of the variants.

What i dont like about it is that it conplicates things returning in future games. how will we get these pokemon in future gens? Why do some pokemon only get a regional evolution? Sirfetchd is based but its dumb as fuck that normal farfetchd cant evolve, same with corsola, mime, etc. for a company that seemingly cant handle a normal workload at all, its not a very future proof concept. everytime you want to use these thinga again you have to find some excuse to shoehorn them into other regions, where normal pokemon dont come with that baggage

It’s probably the best gimmick from the past few gens. They’re a fun way to reimagine a Pokémon, the designs are usually pretty solid, and Game Freak usually picks good mons to receive a regional form, as opposed to all the shillmons that got Megas and G-Maxes. I hope it continues to return because it’s leagues better than the shitty gimmicks Game Freak keeps making and throwing away every generation.

Highly agree with regional evolution as that shit just straight up makes the regular forms inferior in every way (even worse that eviolite doesn’t work on the regular forms to even give them something to compensate for them getting no evolutions).

With regional variants yea hit or miss, the ones I absolutely hate are the kind that’s like alola muk where it’s literally 90% a straight one for one clone with an added type and one different ability that makes it superior to the original in every conceivable way and doing fuck all else to really distinguish it from its DS8MXbase.

Easily my favourite new "Improve old pokemon" feature of the latest generations, no joke. I love cross-gen evos for them, like Obstagoon, even more.
I think it's a far better way of breathing new life and interest into older mons than temporary forms or attacks, and being based on actual animal variants IRL gives the series that realistic factor everyone's wanted since the first gen.

My only complaint is with regional evolutions like Sirfetch’d, Obstagoon, etc. Feels like they rob the original of an evolution, so seeing them just switch to normal cross-gen evos now is a relief.

Alolan is hit and miss. It has some I really like (Marowak, Exeggutor, Vulpix-line and Sandshrew-line) and I also don't hate Raichu and Grimer-line, but the rest are shit.
Galar has only shit forms and I'm also not a fan of what Hisui has shown so far.

You did remind me of another thing I hate, though, only part of an evo line getting a new form. Stuff like G.Weezing with no G.Koffing, or the (likely) G.Braviary with no G.Rufflet. Regional forms are fun because they let you play old mons in a new light, so being saddled with an old mon for half the game until it evolves into the new form sucks.

i cant get its existence out of my head though. Its like this corrupted version of what I like. Like a song I find catchy but then they make a version where the notes go in a different direction and it fucks me up bad. And with pokemon a lot of the time it seems like they are just trying to fuck with me by adding a mustache.

I like it and hope it continues. The one change I’d make it is making region specific evolutions into their own unique pokemon instead if just alternate forms. They help world building in a natural way, but making them just palette swaps with some accessories seems a bit limited to me. Something like a Poiltoed/Poliwrath situation where the regional form is a different conclusion to the evolution path.
