Also, given that the only non-biped Pokémon reps in Smash are Pikachu, Ivysaur and Pichu, it should be easy to remove the biped bloat and the Gen 1 bloat at the same time.
Gen 1: Keep Pikachu, obviously.
Gen 2: Meganium or Hitmontop.
Gen 3: Swampert or Slaking.
Gen 4: Keep Lucario.
Gen 5: Samurott or Darmanitan
Gen 6: Keep Greninja.
Gen 7: Keep Incineroar.
Gen 8: Rillaboom or Falinks.
Those would be my choices.
And obviously, humanoid bipeds are more likely to be added due to the item-based nature of the game.
And with Zelda, you're not comparing apples to oranges.
You're comparing them to rice.
And just because (you) have no imagination, it doesn't mean Gen 1 bloat is the only option.
But if I could choose from that franchise, I'd get rid of Young and Toon Link and add Tetra and Impa. Preferably one of Impa's Hyrule Warriors counterparts.
And replace Ganondorf with his Hyrule Warriors counterpart. Rather than being a Captain Falcon clone.
Maybe add one of the BOTW Champions. Preferably Mipha or Revali.
And Linebeck from Phantom Hourglass. Just because I like Linebeck.
Vaati from the Four Swords trilogy would be neat.
