No, it really wasn't. I grew up with Gen 5 and I was absolutely obsessed with it. Growing up and replaying it a few times I realised how trash it really is, and how much better the first four Gens are.

My playground's rumor was collecting all the forms of Unown let you make a wish for any Pokemon in GSC after a lot of us watched the third movie together.
Another rumor was some secret glitch you could do to get the Navel Rock and Eon tickets in Emerald. Ironically it's been recently found that through double corruption pomeg stuff you actually can do exactly that and set the flags to make it work.

I thought bug was weak to ice since bugs go away during winter. The abundance of bug/flying types to get super effective ice beams on made this idea stick in my head for a while, plus cases like Nincada being bug/ground.

For my young retardation I assumed rock was immune to electric. To be fair, in Gen 1 the only rock types that weren't immune were fossils. Got my shit rocked in Stadium switching an Aerodactyl into a Jolteon's Thunder and never made that mistake again
