They make everything energy attacks to keep it non-violent. You can't compare it to cockfighting if the "bites" are just energy fangs. Slashing is done with energy claws/blades.

Moves just constantly change from generation to generation. Looked at how Stone Edge changed from shooting sharp rocks to making sharp rocks emerge from the ground, or how Dragon Claw changed from the Pokemon's claw slightly glowing to big green energy claws.

Energy shit aside, my biggest pet peeve with this is that the 2nd version doesn't really resemble Stone Edge. It's just bigger Rock Tomb. The original does a much better job portraying the move, though I think the spread of the rocks should be tighter. Make it a focused burst of sharp rocks to better reflect the low accuracy, high crit rate of the move.

Seems like stone edge was always supposed to be sharp stones that grow out of ground, but the ones not only don't look sharp, they glow fucking blue.

Pokemon weak to Grass attacks can still touch grass and eat plants with no problem, so clearly just hitting them with a plant isn't enough. Taking more damage from a log than from fire would make no sense.

I just explained why. Plus it's already been explained multiple times anyway that "types" are elements. It works like any other elemental magic system; the Pokemon are weak to certain attacks because that's what their element is weak against, not what they themselves are weak against.
