>>48518476>locking new 'mons to post-game (especially those who represent one of the brand new types) is objectively bad game design. If they didn't do that there would be even less reason to visit there. Kanto always been a comparatively bland region but Gen 2 Kanto sucks (its fine as a post game boss rush which is what it its, but its objectively terrible as a reigon)
In fact, I'd argue that adding Kanto was a mistake. It was cool to visit, but in hindsight, old players have already been there, and new players wouldn't get the significance and just see it as the place the SS Aqua takes you.
>Johto should be for Gen 2 'mons, I'd go further and say that Gen 2 should have been for Gen 2 mons. It's obvious that Game Freak either didn't care for Gen 2 mons or just saw them as stepping stones to make Gen 1 mons look better: The only Pokemon with signature items are from Gen 1 even though held items are a new thing in Gen 2, Gen 1 starters get their own unique menu sprites while Gen 2 starters got nothing, the strongest-non legendary is Snorlax, most of the dolls you get are Gen 1 mons, the time capsule exists solely for the benefit of Gen 1 mons, etc.
Having Kanto and Gen 1 Pokemon featured so heavily in GeJohto as its own region and as a result Johto Pokemon and Johto Characters get treated like shit for over 20 years.
.
Meanwhile BW had the common sense to put the spotlight on the new Pokemon, and actually made them so strong they managed to powercreep many Gen 1 Pokemon. Not only that, but the BW Tournaments does exactly what Gen 2 Kanto does without attaching another region to it.
It's no coincidence that Unova the most shilled region after Kant, since BW actually valued Gen 5 Pokémon, Game Freak and TPC were forced to do the same.
>t. UnovabortI'm not, GSC is my first and favorite Pokemon game. I just recognize good and bad decisions.
