Even the weird ones like mr mime or jynx are kind of charming in their own bizarre way. The mons are all simple, recognizable, and timeless. They range from badass to cute to even appealing to the most niche tastes. For example, my favorite Pokémon of all time is weezing. This gets thrown around a lot, but it really is the simplicity of the designs that make them so timeless. Think of its competitor during that time, digimom, sure it was pretty popular back then, but their mecha aesthetic they went for that was popular at that time quickly died out and faded into obscurity. And I guarantee you a vast majority of mons being released in recent years won’t even have the same longlasting love that the og’s do.
