I was playing Crown Tundra today and got thinking about why everyone is so excited for 'a return to form'. Like this original style was in Let's Go jsuy a few years earlier and to an extent there in Gen 7. Its like they're admitting they think Gen 8 presentation as a fully 3D title is bad, but will also shit down anyone who critiques that game due to its presentation.

there's no way in hell this is real. i refuse to believe game freak is this lazy. the whole point of chibi esque sprites was due to working on the battle system animations and sprites instead. finfan6 figured this out almost 30 years ago, and there were certainly other games that did earlier too.

The difference is that RSFRLGE graphics were still superior to those of GSC. On the other hand, BDSP are twice as expensive as Sun and Moon, games which were released over five years ago for the 3DS on a less powerful handheld console, and yet still have worse graphics than Sun and Moon.

Japan has pretty shit taste in video games in general, it's just that as far as Pokemon goes, they don't have the spergy genwun-obsessed "fans" you find in the west due to Pokemania being a western concept, so they're not as likely to buy and defend garbage just because you dressed it in Kanto.

But since this is a gen 4 remake, that doesn't come into play here.

YKW4 bombed hard 300k in 2019
DQM series can even break 2mill in Jap. DQMj only sold 600k in 2016 and that game was better than SM, YW3 and MHS but that on sold like shit too
